Stop Saying “I Don’t Know”

How many times a day do you say, “I don’t know”?

More than you think.

It sounds harmless.

Automatic.

Small.

But every time you say it, you are instructing your brain to shut down.

You are telling your inner wisdom, your intuition, your problem solving mind:

Nothing here. Move along.

Then when a bigger decision shows up

What job to take.

What direction to go.

What boundary to set.

You sit there… blank.

Not because you do not know.

But because you have practiced telling yourself you don’t.

Language wires belief.

Belief shapes behavior.

So let’s interrupt the pattern.

Instead of… “I don’t know.”

Try… “Let me think about it.”

Or:

“I don’t know yet, but I can figure it out.”

Feel the difference.

One closes the door.

The other leaves it open.

Awaken Actionable Step:

Today, increase your awareness.

Every time you catch yourself thinking or saying “I don’t know,” pause.

Replace it with: “I don’t know yet.”

Then give your brain a minute to respond.

You might be surprised what comes up when you stop shutting it down.

PS: If you like learning how your brain and body actually work without the hype, listen to THIS Huberman episode. I took notes.

You probably should too. It’s linked HERE.
